Pay Scale: For Project Assistants with Master's (M.Sc.) degree / B.E./ B.Tech - Rs. 10,000/- during the first year, Rs. 11,000/- during the second year and Rs. 12,000/- during the third year + HRA 30% in lieu of Government accommodation. PROJECT ASSISTANT (NIUS Astronomy) – ONE POSITION
Job Description: The candidate should be interested to work in a research oriented environment in the field of
astronomy. The main task will be to help organize we and monitor undergraduate student projects and to organize
teacher and student workshops in astronomy. We arelooking for candidates who have an active interest in scientific
research, especially in astronomy.
Qualification: The candidate should have
1. B.Sc. or M.sc. degree in Physics or Astronomy with at least 50% marks OR
2. B.E. / B. Tech. with either a M.Sc. and/ or some research experience.
Experience of working in Linux – based computers is desirable.
The position is purely temporary, for one year in the first instance and extendable by one or two more years. A
consolidated honorarium will be paid as follows.
For Project Assistants with Master's (M.Sc.) degree / B.E./ B.Tech - Rs. 10,000/- during the first year, Rs.
11,000/- during the second year and Rs. 12,000/- during the third year + HRA 30% in lieu of Government
accommodation.
For Project Assistants with Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree - Rs. 7,500/- during the first year, Rs. 8,500/- during
the second year and Rs. 9,500/- during the third year+ HRA 30% in lieu of Government accommodation.
Age: Below 25 years. (Relaxable up to five years in deserving cases)
PROJECT FELLOW (NIUS Astronomy) – ONE POSITION
Job Description: The candidate should be interested to work in a research-oriented environment in the field
of Astronomy. The main task will be
1. Designing and monitoring undergraduate level research projects in Astronomy.
2. Preparing pedagogical material for training of students and teachers in Astronomy at the undergraduate
level.
Qualification & Experience:
The candidate should have
1. M. Sc. (Physics/Astronomy) with at least 55% marks OR
2. B.E. /B.Tech (Physics/Engineering Physics) with at least 55% and some additional skill and one year
experience relevant to the job.
Experience of working in Linux-based computers is desirable.
The position is purely temporary, for one year in the first instance and extendable by one or two
more years at a fixed honorarium of Rs. 12000/- p.m. to 16000/- p.m. depending on quality of skills and/or
experience, with enhancement of the slab by Rs. 1000/- per year up to Rs. 16000/-p.m. House Rent
allowance in lieu of government accommodation at the rate of 30% of the honorarium will also be paid.
Age: Below 30 years (Relaxable up to five years in deserving cases)
