Subject:- Requirement of one Consultant in the Economic Division, Ministry of Textiles.
Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, requires the services of one Consultant in the
Economic Division on contract basis. The job description, educational qualifications, Terms &
Conditions of the post are given below:-
1. Nature and Scope of responsibilities of the Consultant : The Consultant shall report to the
Economic Adviser, Ministry of Textiles and render the required assistance to him in carrying
out his official duties which, inter alia, include the following:
 Generation of monthly reports which shall contain analysis of trends in cotton,
yarn & textile production, imports and exports, Plan and non-Plan expenditure and
physical and financial progress under various plan schemes;
 Development of database relating to the textile sector:
 Co-ordination of matters relating to Planning Commission and Plan Schemes of
the Ministry:
 Research and Export Promotion Studies Scheme:
 North East Textile Promotion Scheme:
 RFD/Citizens’ Charter/Strategic Plan:
 Matters relating to Demands for Grants of the Ministry of Textiles:
 Monthly D.O letter to the Cabinet Secretary:
 Material for Annual Report of the Ministry of Textiles:
 Any other work which may be assigned to the Consultant:
2. Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Qualifications
(i) Master’s Degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics or Management with a
minimum of 65% marks in aggregate from a recognized and reputed
University/Institute.
(ii) Proficiency in computer applications and packages like SPSS, Strata etc.2
3. Experience:
(i) Minimum of five years of work experience in the required domain field, i.e
Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Management or textile sector.
(ii) Retired Government employees with Grade Pay Rs.7600/- and above
preferably having experience of the Textiles Sector.
4. Duration
Candidates selected will be appointed on contract basis for a period of one year.
5. Age Limit: The maximum age limit shall be 62 years
6. Fee and Conveyance
Fee : The consolidated fee of the Consultant will be in the range of Rs.35,000/- to
Rs.50,000/- per month, depending on qualifications & experience.
The fee for retired Government employees will be decided as per the extant rules.
Local Conveyance: The Consultant will be paid an additional amount of Rs.1,500/-per
month as local conveyance.
7. Selection Process will be as follows:
a) Screening and shortlisting of eligible candidates on the basis
qualification/experience, using a benchmark;
b) Written Assessment of shortlisted candidates; and
c) Interview of candidates found eligible in written assessment;
The written assessment and interview would be held at Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi. No
TA/DA is admissible for the same.3
