Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur invites applications from the Indian nationals for filling up of the following positions on Contract / Deputation basis:
1. Deputy Registrar: 4 (four) posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Grade Pay ` 7600/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: A postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale; along with:
(i) 9 years’ of experience as Assistant Professor in the AGP of ` 6000/- and above with experience in educational administration, or
(ii) Comparable experience in research establishment and / or other institutions of higher education, or
(iii) 5 years’ of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or in an equivalent post in IITs / University System / Research Institute / Central Government Departments.
Desirable: Experience / Exposure to computer based Finance & Accounting / Audit / Academic / Purchase & Stores / Establishment will be preferred. Preference will be given to the candidates who have passed the final level of Chartered Accountancy examination.
2. Deputy Librarian / Senior Information Analyst: 2 (two) posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Academic Grade Pay ` 8000/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: Deputy Librarian: Master’s degree in Library Science/Information Science / Documentation with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade and consistently good academic record. One year specialization in the area of information Technology/Archives and Manuscript Keeping/Database management systems. 8 years experience as University Assistant Librarian or College Librarian. Evidence of innovative Library Service and organization of published work.
Desirable: M. Phil/Ph.D. degree in library Science/Information Science/Documentation/Archives and manuscript keeping, computerization of library.
Senior Information Analyst: MCA’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering plus Bachelor’s degree in Library Science with 5 years relevant experience in automation and computerization of library services.
3. Assistant Librarian / Information Analyst: 3 (three) posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Academic Grade Pay ` 6000/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: Assistant Librarian: Master’s degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade plus a consistently good academic record OR A Postgraduate degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or equivalent with 55% marks or its equivalent grade with Bachelor’s degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% or its equivalent grade plus a consistently good academic record with digital library experiences.
Information Analyst: MCA or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering plus Bachelor’s degree in Library Science. Candidates for Information Analyst with excellent experience relevant to Library automation but do not have a degree in Library Science may be considered with the condition that if selected a B. Lib. Degree should be acquired by the candidate within three years of appointment in the Institute.
4. Executive Engineer (Civil): 3 (three) posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Grade Pay ` 6600/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent with at least 8 years experience in the execution/supervision/maintenance of large Civil Works as Assistant Engineer, Engineer, Project Engineer or its equivalent grade.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KHARAGPUR
Desirable:
(i)Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering;
(ii) Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Management/Structural Engineering.
(iii)Preference will be given to the candidates experienced in coordination and supervision of constructions and maintenance of civil works including Public Health. The incumbent should have experience in contract management, tendering, planning, works accounts procedures, bye-laws of local bodies, etc., and handling construction projects of multi-storied buildings and have experience in planning/estimating/tendering as per CPWD/PWD norms and should have knowledge in structural design, drawings, detailing etc.
5. Engineer (Civil): 3 (three) Posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Grade Pay ` 5400/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent with at least 5 years experience in the execution/supervision/maintenance of large Civil Works as Assistant Engineer, Engineer, Project Engineer or its equivalent grade.

Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent with at least 5 years experience in the execution/supervision/maintenance of large Electrical Works as Assistant Engineer, Engineer, Project Engineer or its equivalent grade in reputed organization. Experience in high tension and low tension lines, electrical maintenance planning.
Desirable: Knowledge of computer applications, experience in operation and maintenance of 33KV substation, testing of relays, switchgears, power transformers and instrument transformers, planning, design and estimation of a power system and also internal electrical works of large infrastructure projects, operation & maintenance of diesel generator set & AMF panel.
7. Senior Sports Officer: 1 (one) post
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Academic Grade Pay ` 7000/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: i) Master’s degree in Physical Education from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade B in the seven point UGC Scale in Physical Education with a diploma in sports coaching from a recognized Institute. OR Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade B in the seven point UGC scale in Physical Education and should have represented university or state at National level. Demonstrated ability to encourage mass participation in events in games and sports.
(ii) 10 years experience in organizing Games and Sports out of which 5 years as Sports Officers or an equivalent posts in the university / central educational Institute.
Desirable: M.Phil / Ph.D. in the discipline of physical education from reputed University / Institute as per UGC guidelines.
8. Sports Officer: 3 (three) posts
Pay Band: ` 15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Academic Grade Pay ` 6000/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: (i) Master’s degree in Physical Education from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade B in the seven point UGC Scale in Physical Education with a diploma in sports coaching from a recognized Institute. OR Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade B in the seven point UGC scale in Physical Education and should have represented university or state at National level. Demonstrated ability to encourage mass participation in events in games and sports. (ii) 5 years experience in organizing Games and Sports at University / Inter College level.
9. Counsellor: 6 (six) posts
Pay Band: `15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Grade Pay ` 5400/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: Masters degree in Psychology with specialization in clinical / social psychology with 2 years experience in psychological counselling in a Clinical, Medical or Academic institution of repute.
Desirable: i) M. Phil/Ph.D. in psychology preferred.
ii) Experience in psychological counselling of young adults living in a fully residential campus of an academic institution of repute.
10. Assistant Registrar: 1 (one) post [number of posts to be increased]
Pay Band: `15600-39100/- (PB-3) + Grade Pay ` 5400/- and allowances as admissible.
Qualification & Experience: A postgraduate degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with a good academic record.
Desirable: (i) 3 years experience at supervisory level; (ii) Experience in Computer System & Applications, Office Automation.
General Information
1. Reservation for ST / SC / OBC / PD / Ex-Serviceman as per Government of India Rules.
2. Initially the appointment will be made for a period of 3 (three) years on contract / deputation basis. Based on the performance they may be regularized in the post.
3. Government strives to have a workforce which reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply.
4. Persons employed in Government / Semi Government Organizations / Autonomous Bodies should submit their application through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Those who are unable to process their application through proper channel may submit ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ from present employer during the time of interview. However, they should submit an undertaking to that effect. Direct application from such candidates will not be entertained.
5. Degree / Diploma as referred above should have been awarded by a recognized University / Institute.
6. Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for interview. The decision of the Institute in all matters will be final. No correspondence will be entertained from the candidates in connection with the process of selection / interview. Canvassing in any manner would entail disqualification of the candidature.
7. The Institute reserves the right to relax experience in exceptional cases, or in the case of persons already holding analogous positions in a Central Technical Institute / University / Research Institution.
8. The upper age limit for the posts Sl No. 1 & 2 are 55 years, 3 & 7 are 50 years, 4 is 45 years, 5, 6, 8, 9 & 10 are 40 years.
9. The Institute also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
10. The Institute reserves its right to offer lower post if the candidate is not found suitable for the post applied for. Higher initial basic pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidates(s).
11. Age relaxation for SC/ST and women candidates is applicable as per Government norms.
12. Age relaxation may be given to the candidates having more experience / qualifications.
13. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master’s level for the SC/ST category for the posts as per UGC notification.
14. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph. D. degree holders who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991 for the posts as per UGC notification.
15. Relaxations in qualifications and eligibility criteria will apply as per MHRD/UGC norms.
16. Candidates applying for more than one post may apply separately for each post.
17. The Institute reserves the right to conduct the written / screening test, if the number of applicant is large for a particular post.
18. To-and-fro rail fare by the shortest route being limited to AC-3 tier will be paid to all the candidates called for interview.
19. Incomplete applications or applications without attested copies of certificates or applications received after the last date are liable to be rejected.
