CPT EXAM FORM 2012-2013 - INDIA

CPT Exam is held twice a year in the month of June and December and ICAI has announced that the next Common Proficiency Test December 2012 Attempt is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 16th December 2012. The CPT Exam December 2012 Attempt would consist of 4 Papers scheduled to be conducted in 2 Sessions of 2 Papers at the following timings

CPT Exam Form

The Exam Form for Common Proficiency Test December 2012 Attempt would be available from 8th October 2012 and the last date of submission of the same is 26th October 2012. All Students who have appeared/cleared Class XII Exams and have applied for CPT Registration with ICAI on or before 5th October 2012 are eligible to apply for the Common Proficiency Test December 2012 Attempt.
Students desirous of appearing for Common Profiency Test scheduled to be held in Dec. 2012 are required to obtain the Exam Form from the various branches of ICAI on payment of Rs.1000 (Rs. 500 towards Examination Fee and Rs. 500 for the cost of the Exam Form)
Students interested of appearing for CPT Exam December 2012 Attempt can also apply for the same online. Students availing the facility for submitting the Exam Form online only need to pay Rs. 500 towards the Examination Fees. They are exempted from paying Rs. 500 for the Cost of the Exam Form and thus Students availing the facility for online submission of Exam Form can avail an exemption from paying Rs. 500 towards the Cost of the Exam Form. CPT Admit Cards are released 21 days before the Common Proficiency Test Exam Date and can also be downloaded online. CPT Results are announced in the month of July for June Exams and in the month of January for December Exams.

Passing Criteria for CPT Exam

CPT Exam December 2012 Attempt would be an Objective type Exam with 4 options to supplement each question out of which 1 option is correct and 3 options are false. The Student has to identify the Correct Answer and encircle the same. 1 Mark would be awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 Marks would be deducted for each wrong answer (Negative Marking)
The CPT Pass Percentage is 35% (approx.) i.e. out of all the Students who appear for the Common Proficiency Test, only 35% (approx.) are successful in clearing the Common Proficiency Test. Students unsatisfied with the marks allotted to them can also apply for Revaluation on Payment of prescribed fees of Rs. 200
After clearing the CPT Exams December 2012, the Students shall apply for IPCC Registration which is the next step after having cleared the CPT. The IPCC Exams are held in the month of May and November every year and the IPCC Pass Percentage is usually in the range of 15-20%.

CPT Exemption for Graduates

The Govt. has approved ICAI’s request for exempting CPT for Graduates. As a result of this approval, all Commerce Graduates with more than 55% marks are exempted from appearing for the Common Proficiency Test and can directly register for IPCC – Integrated Professional Competency Course which is the 2nd level in CA Exams. In case of Non-Commerce graduates, the marks secured in Graduation should be 60% or above.
Moreover, Graduates availing such CPT Exemption can also start their Articleship without the requirement of having cleared IPCC Group 1 as is the case with those students who have registered for the CA Course through the CPT Route.
